Visual supports can play an important role in communication, predictability, and emotional regulation. The Neuro Nook™ downloadable PECS were created to be simple, flexible, and easy to use across different environments. They are designed to support communication in a way that feels natural, accessible, and adaptable to individual needs.

What Are PECS and Visual Supports?

PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and visual supports use images to help individuals communicate needs, choices, routines, or feelings. Visual supports can be helpful for individuals who experience communication differences, benefit from visual information, use alternative or augmentative communication, or need support with routines or transitions.

Designed for Everyday Use

Our downloadable PECS are intentionally designed to be easy to print, easy to cut and laminate, easy to update or replace, and simple to organize and store. They can be used at home, in schools, or in clinical settings.

How to Use the Neuro Nook™ PECS

PECS and visual supports can be used in many ways depending on individual needs. They may be used to support communication of needs or choices, offer visual cues for routines or transitions, support emotional expression, and encourage independence and self-advocacy. There is no single right way to use visual supports. What matters most is consistency and accessibility.

Using PECS with AAC Devices

In addition to printed use, the Neuro Nook™ PECS can easily be photographed and added to AAC or communication devices. This allows individuals to use familiar visuals across different tools, maintain consistency between printed and digital supports, personalize their communication system, and access visuals wherever they are.
